Rules and rate tables, without formulas

Build each rule in a structured form, or describe it to Zeke and review the draft.

  • Rate tables: flat, tiered (marginal, per sale) or based on quota attainment
  • Multipliers, floors per sale, and caps per sale, month, quarter or year
  • Conditions with AND/OR on eight sale fields: amount, date, quantity, source, currency, SKU, product and category
  • Optional EQ formulas for conditions the form cannot express: a weekday, the days between two dates, the end of a fiscal quarter
  • Measured on revenue or on units
  • Several rules per plan, and a salesperson can be on several plans at once
  • Plan versions: draft, active and archived. An active plan is changed by cloning it into a new version
  • Stop a single rule on an active plan without affecting the others

Not available today: manager overrides and team hierarchies, plan-wide caps, custom fields, and formulas for the rate or the amount.

Quotas and attainment

Attainment-based rules pay according to how much of the quota each salesperson has reached.

  • Quotas by revenue or by units, within the plan period
  • Draft, active and closed states
  • Attainment (achieved ÷ target) drives the attainment-based rate brackets
  • An accelerator option pays only the part above quota at the higher rate

Pay runs you can defend

A pay run gathers what is owed, goes through approval and is marked as paid.

  • Draft → approved → paid
  • Marking a run as paid locks the period; it can only be reopened before that
  • Commission that arrives after a period was paid goes into a supplemental payout
  • Commission already paid can never be paid a second time
  • Excel exports of pay runs, payouts and commissions, with a net-to-pay sheet per salesperson, and a PDF per payout

Native clawback

When a customer cancels after the commission has been paid, Evenq handles the recovery.

  • Triggered automatically when a paid HubSpot deal is marked lost within the plan's maturation window
  • Proportional: the longer the deal stayed alive, the less is clawed back
  • Recovered automatically from the next pay runs
  • An optional cap per plan limits how much of each payout can be withheld; the rest carries over
  • Each clawback is a ledger entry with its origin and reason, and so are forgiveness and other adjustments

For sales imported from Excel, a clawback is recorded by hand on the salesperson's ledger, with a reason.

A trace for every commission

Each commission keeps a snapshot of how it was calculated, at the moment it was calculated.

  • Administrators open any commission line on a payout and see the plan version, rate table, conditions and each adjustment applied
  • The rule is frozen with the commission, so later changes do not alter the historical record
  • Salespeople see the sale, plan and rule behind each of their commissions

Every unpaid sale has a reason

A sale that produced no payable commission is never dropped. It goes to a reconciliation queue.

  • Reasons such as no active quota, no matching bracket, no salesperson assigned or a different currency
  • Fix the source and reprocess, or close the item with a reason: who, when and why are recorded
  • Export the queue to Excel

HubSpot and Excel

Sales data from HubSpot or from a file, with your existing CRM kept in place.

  • HubSpot connects through OAuth with read-only access; no password is stored
  • Closed-won deals and their line items sync every hour, or on demand
  • Deal owners are mapped to salespeople, and lost deals are detected
  • Excel or CSV import of salespeople (up to 300 rows per file) and sales (up to 10,000 rows per file), with a preview before anything is saved
  • Bulk updates of existing sales from a file

Other CRMs are not connected today. Plans and rules are set up in the app, not imported.

Simulate before you pay

Test a rule, or the whole cycle, without touching live data.

  • The rule simulator shows each calculation step on an example sale and saves nothing
  • A practice sandbox runs a full commission cycle on sample data, separate from your live data
  • A plan built in the sandbox can be promoted into your real workspace
